“How to Love: Intimacy with the Inanimate/Displaced Tenderness/Tangible vs. Intangible Love”

Performing History Exhibition, Richmond, VA 2017

Scanner/printer, computer, Listerine, apple, electric blanket, translucent rain suit, mop slippers
Duration: 30 minutes

What is love? How do you love? How do you document love? Is love tangible (when you print it)?
Listerine as the catalyst for a forced emotion,
(stranger rolls an apple down your spine as you yell):

    Something about the presence of
The artificial warmth of an electric blanket
Radiating the obsessive need for security
    Of a displaced tenderness
    Low, Medium, High
    High heat baby
My feet shifting back and forth
    The coldness ever so present
    I  already feel naked
    But your eyes undress me
    Shivering
    Shy
    Shiny
    Shriveled
    F lesh
    Like a newborn child
    Only comforted by
The artificial warmth of an electric blanket

A massage as making love,
A shared meal as giving love,
I once was in love
